Wishlist for OOTPB 2006
Thanks to all who have posted some of these ideas and suggestions...I have stolen quite a few of them.
My consolidated wishlist for OOTPB 2006: 1. All the basic plays of a normal baseball game...like steal with two strikes...steal home...dropped throws, etc... Markus has said this will definitely be improved in 2006...he said he did much research on play results and this will be put into the game. 2. Auto Mode for a game...stop the auto mode and let us know when a substitution is required, so we can make the decision, rather the AI. 3. More realistic use of pitchers...give the option for "strict" mode of relievers...this way the pitchers we want will get the innings. 4. Provide for 4 spot starters rather than one...this way more than one reliever can occasionally start. 5. Allow a "long reliever" slot that can pitch 5-6 innings. 6. Change "arguing with the umpire"...just have it programmed in the game like the ejection for arguing balls and strikes...I would prefer the game make the decision like it does for injuries. 7. Add suspensions for fighting, pushing an umpire, throwing at a batter, drug use, etc. 8. Simple graphics showing where the ball is hit, so we can make a decision on the baserunners and whether or not to try to throw them out on defense or to advance them on offense. 9. Rainouts...games would be rescheduled if it is not an official game. If an official game, it would just be over. 10. Real time fielding percentage on the main game screen...rather than fielding percentage...related to that, keep career stats for fielding rather than just the last season. 11. Schedule pitchers seven days in advance. 12. Minor League player promotion based more on performance and stats rather than draft position and talent. Players get to the majors with poor minor league stats too often. That just doesn't happen in real life. 13. Outfielders rated for all 3 positions. 14. Infielders rated at more than one position. 15. Defensive ratings based on hands, range, arm, throwing accuracy, quickness, positioning. 16. Give catchers a "game calling" rating. I have seen this skill many times in my life in playing baseball and watching it. It is a skill and does affect the game. 17. Improve home field advantage. Teams play much better at home than on the road...even the bad teams. You need to greatly improve this. Make it easier to adjust League totals to get the stats we would like. I am tired of doing test leagues to get the stats where I want them. Make it easier to set the Development to get younger productive players in the game. Make it easier to set the Aging so that older players do not suddenly lose their skills in one season, but do it over 2-3 years gradually...Older players' eyes get better as they age...they walk more...and they don't suddenly start striking out more. In the Manual: Give us some idea of the relationship between stuff, control and movement. I would like to adjust the pitchers ratings and have some idea of the results. The game is bewildering right now. You could also explain the various buttons on the League Totals and how they affect the game. No one seems to understand them. And while I am dreaming...make it possible to create photos for fictional players, create uniforms and team logos...and to customize stadiums. Looking forward to the Spring...I now spend my days doing what the great Rogers Hornsby did during the off season...Baseball was his total life...I just stare out the window waiting for signs of spring. I have no doubt that people who want to replay 2005 will be drooling over this version. For historical replayers:
1. Please make it easy to manipulate organizational structures at every level. We need to be able to add and subtract both teams and leagues whenever we want during a career replay. 2. Do what you can with the play-by-play. The game still has a ways to go as far as play-by play is concerned if you compare it to sims like DMB. I know that's not going to be the focus of this particular version, but I hope it continues to improve. 3. 19th Century support. This partially goes back to #1, but I would also like to be able to start in 1876 if I want to without importing every player individually. 4. Research and research some more. You'll need every bit as much help with research as the Football Manager developers. One person can't do it all, and I bet there are a number in this community who would love to help. |
