playoff structure

i would like to see the capability in allowing a custom setup for playoffs.

ie a tourny set up (sweet 16) or a double elimination, or a modified version of the playoffs.

if this was already mentioned, i apologize.

thanks,

mike

I would especially like an "Expanded Playoffs" like the one listed in the first post of this thread (assuming it hasn't already been created)

One of the big strengths of OOTPBM 2006 is its customization abilities, and this area of the game been overhauled. The following options have been added

League salary structure (assign typical salaries to different player qualities)
Set amateur draft date, rule 5 draft date, trade deadline date and roster expansion date
Draft pick compensation for lost free agents
Limit for foreign players on roster
Unbalanced and inter-league scheduling options
More playoff formats, for example split-season mode
League equivalencies (defines league quality)
League total modifiers (simplifies tweaking)
there are more playoff formats, to what extent, I dont know. Ive been pushing for complete customization of the playoffs for awhile. Hopefully there are enough to satisfy us all.

I don't know why MLB won't expand the Playoff teams to 8 in each league, won't make Inter League play all year and Radical Realignment meaning geographical!
At least in this game allows Radical Realignment and Inter League play all year round can happen!
I would go for 30 man rosters!

Not sure what will be covered under the "more playoff formats", but I'd like the ability to set the matchups. In leagues that use the wild card, sometimes division winners end up playing teams in their own division in the first round, which shouldn't happen.

That screenshot does not necessarily show it, but considering a league can have 1-50 divisions and 2-50 teams per division, it would seem the playoff system will have to be quite flexible. I am guessing there will still be limits and that people will not be able to strictly set the matchups themselves nor do more exotic things like have a double-elimination or round-robin playoff setup.

I am guessing the playoff system will indeed be much improved but that some details like being able to set whether or not wild cards can play division opponents in the first round of the playoff will still not be there. There are so many possibilities when it comes to the playoffs. Completely opening it up to user specification (like has been discussed lately with awards & All-Stars) may be the answer that could most satisfy everyone, but there are surely limits to how much that could be done, at least for the time being, even in this rewrite of the game.

If you can have so many divisions, I wouldn't mind see an NCAA Basketball style playoff at the end of the year. Division winners get auto bids and have the rest be best record of remaining teams.

That would be cool. Even if i can't make amatuer leagues. i might make a low level town league with a lot of teams in it. And follow it from a far.
