Talent Drops that Make Sense

So often players age by getting talent drops in ratings they shouldn't and not in others that should.

Speed and range go first and they should degrade first.
Contact next, then power and eye last

Pitchers should lose stuff first, then movement, endurance and control last.

There should be some reasoning behind these drops rather than just whole sale drops. It would enable older players to become DHs and pinch hitters and aging starters to become relievers.

I gotta agree and add that there should be better explanations of why the rating drops on the development page for the younger or even moderately old players. I often find myself explaining it to n00bs of the game and would like them to be able to see for themselves.

Not like that makes more sense or more normal?

I agree with this. The arbitrary nature of the development path is among the more disappointing aspect of the game. Note, arbitrary is different from random. Random is good--random says you don't always know who will be a star and who will not. Arbitrary says that things don't make any sense.

It makes little sense for young kids to lose speed but a 35-year-olds to gain it, for example. It makes little sense for a player to gain speed, but lose range. Sure, I can come up with scenarios for this on occasion, but on the whole it's a hokey element of the game that robs it of its authenticity. I believe Markus has been improving this aspect of game as the versions roll along...but it still has a very long way to go.

Fine suggestion.
