Pitcher's gradually see performance decline in games as get tired

I would like to see a pitcher's performance gradually deteriorate once he reaches his endurance limit.

Currently I see that the pitcher's status will simply change to 'Tired' and the effect is that I will pull him from the game as fast as possible. It is a shame when someone is pitching well that we should be so afraid of leaving him in there because his performance will suddenly drop drastically all at once.

It may be that there is some gradual decline, but I have not seen that explained anywhere. If this is true, this needs to be explained.

What version of the game are you on? In all of the version 6 games, the pitchers already "gradually tires". However, I believe until 6.5, he would turn red once he hit a certain point of tiredness. In 6.5, though, that was taken out and the visit mound option was implemented, which grayed the ability to find out exactly how tired your pitcher is.

I've got 6.5 going with the 'a' patch.

I have the visit the mound option but since that never seemed to make much sense, I will go to the player's card when they are around their endurance limit and it will change their status to Tired.

How do you know they gradually tire? And what does that mean?

What is being grayed out?

I didn't realize you could go to the player page and it told you they were tired. If you don't want to know they are past a certain limit, then I wouldn't check the player card. As far as gradually tiring, Markus has stated that is the case. It isn't just an on/off switch type of deal.

Right, so this goes to my other suggestion about needing a glossary in-game AND one that gives a bit more info/detail.

We don't need to know every little detail, but more info about what it means that a pitcher tires gradually. Does this start Before his endurance rating kicks in? At the time it kicks in? Is it based on the rating or on a pitch count? Maybe there is a factor for how much he has been getting hit around? What is the general flow - that he can usually go one more inning when he gets tired without substantial drops in performance? Two? How does his tired status relate - is that when he begins to deteriorate?

Maybe the visiting the mound results are the key and we just need a bit more definition of what each means. Though I was kind of getting the idea that, as in real life, the pitcher is not always giving accurate information!

Regarding going to the player's page, I like being able to do that. In real life, you can see if a player is beginning to look sluggish or doesn't have his stuff and you can tell more that those back-back hits were because he was tired or not. So being able to see his status is like me seeing him physically perform.

Right. I don't know 100% exactly how tiring works, but I know factors such as weather, number of pitches in the last five days, and the endurance rating all factor in. I agree that there needs to be more information available about this (and supposedly the manual will be much better in the new version). I am also not sure how accurate/vague the pitcher's comments are supposed to be when visiting the mound. In my opinion we should be able to hear both from the pitcher and the pitching coach (who should be a bit more informative).

Watch the speed of his fastball...it will give you an indication of how tired he is.

Exactly. And I can't count how many times I've left a tired pitcher in to finish an inning because I was planning on pinch-hitting for him in the next half-inning and, more often than not, I got away with it.

I believe it's gradual enough.
