Free Agent Bidding Info

I suggest that there be a new feature that advertises what the leading bid (or initial minimum) is and who the leading bidders are for various free agents. The idea of totally hidden bidding just doesn't happen much in real life, and I see no reason why a player's agent wouldn't advertise a ballpark figure that you have to meet to get into the game for his client.

Perhaps it would be done as a hot-stove rumor page. Or as a straight e-mail delivered report. Any mechanism would be fine.

Yeah, that's reasonable.

Check the sports talk forum boards here. We all know what contract offers are being made. Either the player, agent or a gm will almost always release it.

However, i suppose we could turn it off or on.

I'm for anyting being optional.

I was just thinking of this because I was working on bidding for a Free Agent and the "request" was something like $8M/7. I offered $9M/5, and he said no. So I bumped it over several days to $12M/5. He eventually settled with another team for $21M/7. I see no reason why the guy's agent wouldn't have at least given a proper ballpark figure in the real world.

Sounds to me like he really wanted a 7 year deal and you weren't able to oblige him with that so he moved on.

I'm sure you're right. The point being that if I would have known his ballpark was upward of $20M, I wouldn't have wasted my breath on giving him what were certainly insulting offers.

Im also for the idea, and think it should be printed in the html report somewhere as well.
