Allowing multiple teams to pay a player's salaray.

I'd like to see this become a possibility when trading a player. Basically, making it possible for one team to trade a guy who is making $10mil a year, but still pay for, say, $2million of that guy's salary for the rest of his contract. It would be nice if this could be done on a year-by-year basis as well, but I would settle for just the ability to do this at all.

*Edit* - Yes, I realize that I cannot spell.

That's really not how it works in the MLB either. The team that eats part of the salary actually just sends cash to the team in the trade.

No, it can be done either way in baseball. I would actually say that the way I am talking about happens most of the time...unless the deal happens to be the Yankees dumping somebody.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on this because everytime I have seen it, it's a team sending cash to the other team.

Yup. I just cited Hampton because his contract is so big.

Actually, this brings up a good point...when releasing a player, you shouldn't lose all of the cash you owe that player up front. You should just have to continue paying him through out the length of the contract.
