Expansion Drafts
Just cusrious if this was something that has been thought of in OOTPBM or not.
When you add new teams to the old OOTP, there is no prompt if you want to hold an expansion draft to initally fill your new teams. You have to either generate rookies and try to sign free agents and draft new amatuers, but in MLB when the leagues expand, each team can protect a certain number of players, and the rest are available to be drafted by the incoming teams. This would be a great feature to have in the game when expanding with new teams. Unless I'm flat out missing something that is already built in. Also, can there be a way to readjust league salaries, say for example if you've simed say 10 years and salaries are out of control, in the 30-40million per season range and you want to readjust them down to more realist levels. Not sure the best way to accomplish that, but just an idea. |

An expansion draft would be nice. So would a dispersal draft. That would open a lot of doors for leagues to be able to expand or contract. This would be a great dynamic for online leagues who find that they may have originally set the number of teams too high (say, 30), but have a group of 25 quality owners.
And, of course, the ability to add teams as interest dictates. And it would be a nice touch to dynasties, which I think will really take off with some of the new features that lend themselves to storytelling like alternate leagues and more coaches/scouts. |

Along those same lines i'd like the game to eventually allow you to move teams from league to league. It would open up a lot of new what if scenarios.
For instance, what if the Independent Baltimore Orioles, had joined the American League with Babe Ruth, rather than selling him to the Red Sox? Same thing with the San Francisco Seals (PCL) and Joe DiMaggio or the San Diego Padres (PCL) and Ted Williams. Or what if the Kansas City Monarchs were able to enter the league?

Doh! Well not to be too much of a pain in the ass, but I would say to Marcus, Steve:
Marcus, Steve, and the other OOTP developers, Please do highly consider this feature for a possible OOTPBM expansion or update. It's definitely a highly desired feature by the community and would only enhance the realism of the game. I relaize that many other features such as Waivers, Rule V and Amatuer Drafts have been added and updated, but please keep this one on the radar guys. You'll have many legions of happy online commisioners thanking you when it's added. |

The only other headaches with manual expansion are moving teams around, changing the team names, abbreviations, etc. and WHEN you change them - it can sometimes mess up the history of the franchise or the importing of new rookies. That could probably be solved by using the franchise ID of the team instead of the team ID as a key. I believe the franchise ID stays the same throughout the database, no matter what the team ID is. Anyway - I'm still hoping for some features that will at least make manual expansion easier than it is now! |

You poeple might be talking about Expansion magically apearing meaning lets say Orlando and Las Vegas want to join the MLB in your league they would go to the commissiner of the league and apply for an application to join the league the Commissiner and Relocating/new Franchise comittee would go and check out the cities to see if they can hold a baseball if they can then the Commissiner of the league would say yes you can and tell you what year you would be joining the league and then you got to get a Stadium or Dome built for the team if their isn't one built yet for a team!
Relocation would be fun because let say the Marlins can't get a new Stadium or Dome built in MIami they could go to the Commissiner of the legaue and ask to be relocated if the person says yes the Marlins can start looking for a new city to relocate to! |
