Great game but a few suggestions.

Hi, I play the STB2K3 version of the game and must say that it is currently one of my favourite games. However, having said this there are a couple of minor areas that I feel could use some improvement (or perhaps I am missing something in these areas and would appreciate if someone would explain this to me).

1. The attendance figures accurately reflect races for first place in a division in September. This is a great idea, its good to see that the attendance rises when I am in a battle for first place (I've experienced this phenomena many times while winning the division with the Dodgers using the Rolen rosters). However, it should also reflect an increase in attendance in races for the wild card. Again, using the Rolen rosters, in 2004, I was able to get 25000 people on average to attend my Expos games in July. However, at the end of September in a great race for the wild card (never more than a game or two separating us or the leader/2nd place team with the Spos eventually winning), our attendance dipped down to 15000 and stayed that way through the first round of the playoffs (we were eliminated). During September, we were unfortunately about 20 games back of the division lead, but I think the wild card race should still draw fans and especially playoff games. Its not that our home record was bad either, because we ended up 10-15 games above .500 at home. Perhaps there is something else that I did to cause the fans to go away, but not that I know of. I picked up a short-term acq at the deadline to help the team so it doesn't seem like the fans thought I was packing it in (if that's indeed a part of the game).

2. I like the idea of the automatic contract renewals in the beginning years of a player's career, but a nice addition I think would be to show the user how many more years of automatic renewal exist for the player in discussion. Again, in the case of my 'Spos team, when acquiring a player, it is very important that I find someone who does not become a FA in the near future as I can never match the salaries demanded. I can check his team to see if he becomes a FA at the end of the season, but in the player trade screen and the player info screen, there is no difference (that I know of, and I could be wrong) between a player who's $100,000 contract will be automatically renewed at the end of the season and one who's $100,000 contract won't be renewed.

3. Another ultra minor point is that the box score screen gets sort of screwy in very-long extra inning games. I've had a couple where the writing actually scrolls beyond the borders of the message box which popped up and they don't seem to respond well to scrolling. A possible solution to this would be to have horizontal scrolling as well as vertical scrolling in place on the message box. Unfortunately, I can't recall how many innings the games went (I'll guess around 20 or so) or any other details. Sorry.

4. One other point that I forgot (just editted this in). In the player search option of the player trade screen. Having the ability to search on the throwing arm/batting side of the player would be a great addition (maybe its in there and i cant find it). Trying to find a left handed reliever with good ratings isn't as easy as it could be.

That's all. As I said, great game, just a few minor suggestions.

For #2, you can do a quick check of the player's stats, and the number of years of Major League stats will tell you how close he is to free agency. If you see 5 years of data, then he's in his last year.
