All-Star selections

Right now, the computer generates the All-Star teams based on stats.

But I would like to see some realism added to this aspect.

I would like to have simulated fan voting, so you can see who is likely to make the All-Star team.

And, just like real fan voting, the "team leader" stat could come into play.

The more of a leader someone is, the more their name is known, so they are more likely to get in regardless of stats.

And then, if your team made the World Series the previous year, you would be forced to go with the fan-voted starters, but the pitchers and reserves would be up to you to select.

And if a computer-run team was in the World Series, more of their players might make the ASG the next year.

thats a great idea

however, i could imagine the problems with someone being abel to select their own all-stars.

even though it really wouldnt matter b/c its a solo league and i wouldnt know wat you did.

i think that if you do this, then maybe it should affect YOUR status as a manager/gm/wateva.

for example...lets say Chipper Jones deserved an all-star selection. but instead you decided to take your LF to the all-star game even though his stats did not compare at all to Chipper's stats THEN maybe Chipper could dislike your team.

maybe even since the game already chooses all-star teams, it can generate its own all-stars to represent the other coaches in your selection staff. you can either go with the list or go another way. if you do go another way or maybe snub one player for another then a news article will come up about how Player A is upset b/c he wasnt selected to go to the All-Star Game.

hey it happens all the time. i agree with selecting, but i think there should be a price for abusing the privalege.

edit: just wanted to add that even allowing your own player to get upset with your selections could hurt you. maybe that guy wouldnt want to sign with you once his contract is up. or maybe he'll demand a trade and his performance will hinder.

I agree completely with the idea that failing to choose certain players (either your own or someone else's) could hurt your current team (players demanding trades), or your future one (inablility to sign free agents).

I didn't include that in my first post, because I tend to go nuts with these ideas, so I try to limit myself as much as possible, so I don't go off on a weird, impossible tangent.

But a very good idea indeed.

And maybe even include the rule that their must be at least one representative from each major league team.

And maybe some players might even decline the opportunity to go to the game, and you would have to select a replacement.

But I'm going off on that tangent again, so I'm gonna stop here.

i would love to see an option on the game where u have a certain point where the "fans" vote, u just hit the little button that says start fan poll or voting, and throughout, until the all-star game you can see how each player does, or whatever, like each player on your team and etc.....you also could get an invite to be a manager on the team. etc, cool stuff like that.
