Waiver wires

I don't know exactly what the MLB rules are on this but I do know that you can only send certain players down to the minors X amount of times before they have to clear waivers. This would be an interesting option to have in the league setup. You would really have to be more diligent as GM in your transactions over time, and only call someone up (excluding the September callups) when he is really ready. Let me know what you think.

This is not correct. Major league options are actually unlimited in number. However they are limited by length of time.

A major league player has options until they have 3 years of experience at which time they must clear waivers prior to being demoted. Additionally veteran players (5+ years of experience) have the option of refusing the assignment and being released.

I currently use a house rule to simulate options, if a player makes more than the league minimum he can not be demoted, if he's on his automatic contract still then he still has options remaining.

See this for added information:

I like your house rule.. I too would like to see this in the game..

I'd also like a better way of managing players.. I wish I could opt to "move player to level 'X' " And then before leaving the transaction screen I'd have to make sure I didn't have more than 25 guys on my active roster..

The reason I'd like this is that its tough to demote guys after the September call ups because you can't see their stats from the transaction screen so you've gotta click on them and then remember their name, etc..

When you try moving player X from the majors to any minor level the computer might ask (similar to trying to release a player) "Player X has to clear waivers, would you like to continue?" If you click yes there is a chance one of the computer teams might try to pluck him up in a solo game, and it will be posted somewhere in the league file that he is available in a multiplayer game.

Also, I'd like to see rehab stints. When a player is injured, part of the mail you get when he's due to come off the disabled list would be "player X is ready to come off the DL, would you like to send him for rehab" and you can either make the roster move yourself or have the computer auto-sort that player for whatever minor league system is most appropriate.
