Customizable Postseason

This is a minor thing, of course, and I wonder if I'm the only one who cares, but it's a -wish- list, and I -wish- OOTP had this feature.

When I was a kid playing baseball in the local league, the postseason was a double-elimination tournament that lasted about a week. Lose once, you move to the loser's bracket, lose twice, go home. Come time for the finals, if the loser's bracket team won the first game, they'd have to win again the next day. It was great, and some of the most memorable moments of my childhood are clutch plays made in the tournaments I played. It was astonishing to me, even then, how much intensity a group of twelve-year-olds could muster in the middle of a Kansas August, playing a game at 8am and another at 3:15.

As such, I'd like to see more options for the postseason. If you can make it an NBA-type affair taking six months and actually dragging into the preseason the following year, or an NCAA basketball tournament, or, heaven forbid, an NFL postseason, it would greatly improve, in my opinion anyway, an already great game.

At the very least I'd like to see us have the options to select which of the currently implemented post seasons we wanted to use.

For example if you have a pair of 3 (or 4) division leagues
--In this case you'd be forced into the currently implemented 3 tier with wild card playoff structure.

But if you had a pair of 2 divisional leagues
--You could use the old LCS and World Series, or select the 3 tier with wild card playoff structure (There would be 2 wild cards in this case)

If you had only a pair of one divisional leagues
--You could choose World Series only, LCS and World Series (one wild card), or the three tiered system (with 3 wild cards)

Additionally you should be able to choose a playoff structure if you only have one league, at the very least selecting among one of the already implemented formats.

right now, ive just been backing up my league right at the end of the regular season, then sim the manually added "playoff" games, export the results, restore the league, and edit the history. (i plan on doing the same with all-star games when my 8-team league gets big enough)
i havent found a way to add it to the players postseason stats though. (help! ?) i just keep them handy in text and excel formats.

Well, I'd add a couple of playoff scenarios to the possible list of options. I'd suggest:

For single division leagues:
- the division winner only
- the top 2 teams qualify for the postseason
- the top 4 teams qualify for the postseason

For 2 division leagues:
- the 2 division winners only
- the top 2 teams in each division
- the 2 division winners and 2 wildcard teams
- the top 4 teams in each division
- the 2 division winners and 6 wildcard teams

For 3 division leagues:
- the 3 division winners and 1 wildcard team
- the 3 division winners and 5 wildcard teams

Beside each scenario there would also be the option to select the playoff series length for each round, with the choices ranging from best-of-3 to best-of-9.

Of course, trying to decide who should play who in such playoff scenarios could be contentious, so I'd suggest letting the matchups for each playoff round be decided by the player through the schedule editor.

This allows complete flexibility for someone using these expanded playoffs to match the teams up in any way they feel is appropriate, and frees Markus from having to code a matchup method himself. For folks using the "classical" playoff scenarios, they can use either what OOTP already has or use the schedule editor to set playoff matchups as they prefer.
