Physical condition for Spring Training

Hi, sorry if this has been mentioned before, I wasn't sure on what keyword to search, so I'll just throw this out there.

I started to get into FM as a way to pass the time before OOTP2006 was released. One thing I'd like to see copied over is the condition of the player (ie "Match Fit"). There were different ratings, but if the lads have just come back from the off season, they'd be in poor 'football' condition. You'd have to play them in games to get ready for the season.

With spring training now a reality, I'd like to see that implemented in OOTP2007. Right now it just has a tired rating (ie. 100% rested), so I'd like to see the players play themselves into game shape. This will probably happen if only because it's an SI product, but thought I'd mention it anyways.

That's a heck of a good idea for historical leagues. Today most players come to spring training in good shape (although a few don't). But in the past is was common for players to show up to spring training having done no real physical training since October. It wouldn't have been odd at all for someone to get off the train in Florida 20 lbs overweight, expecting to work most of it off by opening day.

I remember a story about Ernie Lombardi where he described not eating huge dishes of pasta everyday in the offseason, implying that was what he did most years. He found it notable that he was actually showing up to spring training kind of in shape.

Good idea, and would also like to see it happen after injuries. (Rehab minors stints are on my wishlist for next year.)
