Ratings Display Mode

I would love to see a new ratings display mode that was kind of a combination of the stars concept, the current setup, and the real life MLB set.

This would only effect the way ratings were displayed to the human player and not the true (1-200) player ratings. Each player would be rated from 2-8 or 20-80 except it would also be based on league averages for those ratings.

For example, let's take shortstop Jason Example. His contact on the editor screen tells me that he's 100 out of 200. Right now (correct me if I'm wrong) that would make his contact display as a 5 or 50 in the current setup. Now in real life MLB ratings world 5 or 50 is an average ratings. For the sake of argument though, let's say that the average contact rating in this example league is actually higher or lower than that.

What I'm aiming for would be to have a bell curve where, for any particular field, the actual league average (in true rating) would be centered at 5 or 50 for the displayed rating. That way, when you were to look at players you would see their ratings based on the league as a whole, not just where they fit on the 1-200 scale. It would kind of be like combining the older star system with the ratings.

I'd also love to see an option for rounding the rating up or down. I've noticed in the league I'm playing in right now that if a guy is rated at a 59 (20-80) in power that in 2-8 scale it will show as a 5. I'd love to have the option to have it rounded up so that it displayed as a 6.

Sorry I can't comment on most of this post, but the last bit grabbed me. In my leagues 56-65 = 6. This means that only really bad players (20-25) get the red '2' and only really great ones (76-80) get the blue '8'.

As a bump I'd like to add it would be very cool to set the level at which the average is taken.

For example being able to use a pulldown menu to see where a player's contact rating is compared to the average in the division, conference (like National or American League), the league (like MLB), the world, the universe or whatever.

It would be even better to be able to look at minor league levels too. So you could see at a glance that your 2B prospect has above average contact based on the rest of the players at AA. It would be very helpful in deciding when a player is ready to move up.

Assuming that the display scale already does a percentage of the 1-200 engine range, wouldn't it be fairly easy to make the percentages +/- the average?

This could add a certain vagueness to the ratings that would make decisions more difficult. Plus with it being based on the average rather than the arbitrary scale the engine uses the extremes would be mellowed out a bit.

If for example that you had it set "centered to average", "round up to next whole number", and set at 2-8 for a scale the majority of players ratings would be at 5. Only the guys above or below average by a bit would be in the 2-4 or 6-8 range.

I can't believe I'm the only one that sees this as a plus.
