Player comebacks
I would like to see a feature added to the game where, occasionally, a player will attempt a comeback.
Perhaps a player retires, but after sitting out a year, decides that he would like to return to the game. Maybe the player has a certain liking toward one team (maybe he played his entire career with that team), and only has a desire to play for them. He could send the GM and Email that he would like to negotiate a contract. The GM of that team would then have a certain time frame to work out a deal. If no deal is reached, then the player can either accept retirement or can declare himself a free agent and negotiate with every team. Or maybe, the player just wants to get back into the game and declares himself a free agent. He doesn't have a favorite team and is willing to negotiate with everyone. For example, a guy like Paul O'Neill would really only want to play for the Yankees, whereas a guy like Todd Stottlemyre would be happy to play for just about anyone. A player's announcement of his intention to come back to the game could be posted in the League Transactions Section. For example, it could read "Paul O'Neill has announced that he will come out of retirement and is negotiating a contract with the Yankees" or "Todd Stottlemyre has announced that he will come out of retirement and is currently taking offers from all Major League teams." A player might be more inclined to come out of retirement if he is close to reaching a milestone or breaking a record. For example, if Roger Clemens retires with 298 career wins, after a year, he might want to come back to try to reach 300 wins. And he might want to play for just the Yankees, or just the Red Sox, or he might be willing to play for anyone. Another scenario could be a player trying to come back from an injury that was thought to be career-ending. While his ability would most likely be less than it was when he was healthy, after a few years, he might want to attempt a comeback. For example, in my league, Shawn Green suffered a career-ending injury. Maybe after a few years of healing, he might want to attempt a comeback, if he's young enough. While he probably wouldn't put up the same numbers that he did when he was 100%, he still might be able to play everyday. |

How do you know who they would play for? Maybe Paul O'Neil after he retires decides as a fan, like every other fan that he hates the Yankees and George Stienbrenner!Maybe he would rather play for the Red Sox! =)

Can you currently bring a player back with an outside utility?
