Make pitcher's ratings correlate
This is a small thing, but a pitcher's double rating should be within 1 rating (and talent level) of their allowing hits rating.
For example, if a pitcher is a 5 in giving up hits, his 2B rating should be no less than 4 and no more than 6. I've seen several 6 rating pitchers (fictional) with a 2 rating in allowing doubles. Oddly, I'm okay with a 2 rating in HR allowed with a 6 in allowing hits. Maybe this doesn't bother anyone else, but I find it annoying and unrealistic. Thanks. |

I have always assumed that this was handled by first determining if the pitcher was giving up a hit at all, and once that was determined, deciding if it was a double. Could be that a pitcher tends to allow lots of hot ground balls. Generally, these are scooped up by the infielders, but when they get hit down the line, they go for doubles. Thus, he's very good at avoiding hits, but a large percentage of the hits he allows are doubles. That sort of thing. It goes the same way for homers. Some guys (especially hard-throwing closers) can get batter after batter out...but when someone gets a bat on that ball, look out!
