what is a player's asking price in his walk year based on...
if it is mainly based on stats...wouldn't it be possible to sit him for part of the season and sign him inexpensively...? if it's based on ratings...how can a good team keep a solid player that would be a backup on that team? if it's a combonation of the 2 which is weighted more heavily...and is it compared to other people at their position...or the top and bottom in the league overall...or just to other people on the team... i believe his place on the team should definately come into play...because...even though some teams are stacked with talent...they know they will not get paid more then the star player unless it's acceptable to that player... so he's usually the peak for team signings... not that i'm suggesting that at all... but it should @ least be taken into consideration... thanks, Rich |

A players position on a team should be taken into account, but not for salary purposes... It should be used as a reason not to resign with their former team... if a player is a back up and feels he could be a starter, he wouldn't sign for less than starter money (unless no one else offered him starter money) and he wouldn't resign with his old team knowing that he'd be a backup again. This would mean the game would consult each players Games Played, and Games Started stats, so this would also eliminate the idea of sitting the player to make him sign cheaper, since he'd be less likely to resign with a team who wouldn't play him.
The challenging part of the scenario I just laid out, would be making the game recognize that the player was injured the year before and thereby the games played and games started available were less. I believe currently it is a blend with the players rating taking a slightly more significant spot than stats. But I'm not positive on this. |
