Disabled List for Minor League Players?
In OOTP 5 you could put injured minor league players on the DL. In version 6, however, if you try to, you now get a message the DL is only for active roster players.
I understand this, I guess. But I'd like a separate DL for minor leaguers, or being allowed to put injured minor leaguers on the active roster DL (via a patch to OOTP6, or in OOTP7), for one important reason, i.e., keeping track of minor league injuries. Let me explain. In OOTP6, if my minor league 2B prospect gets hurt in AAA, I remove him from my AAA lineup and wait for him to heal. But unlike injured active roster DL players, I get no reminder email notice when he's able to be returned to the lineup. The setup in v. 6 requires me to remember which minor league prospects have been injured. So if I don't manually keep track of my minor leaguer's injury, it might be weeks after he's healed before I finally realize he should be returned to the minor league lineup. This isn't a huge issue. But a separate DL for minor leaguers, or being permitted to include non-active roster players on the existing DL, would be very helpful in keeping track of minor league injuries. That way I don't lose development time because he sits on the bench after being healed. Just a suggestion. Thanks for listening. ![]() |

Unfortunately in the last patch it was decided that it was more important to prevent people from putting any minor leaguer on the DL, so now we can no longer use the 60 day DL for minor leaguers. |

Technically speaking, in real life there is a 7-day minor league DL. The introduction of this into OOTP7 would be a welcome addition.
This brought something else to mind: at some point I wouldn't mind the introduction of minor league roster limits with the active and reserve lists - not necessarily the same limits as in real life, but something appropriate. This would solve the problem of the veterans that are in the minors getting the lion's share of pinch hits, etc. - and would allow teams to set their auto-linups by only using prospects, etc.. What this would do is allow you to decide who would be eligible to play and who wouldn't. For those who are interested, the real life rosters are as follows: AAA: 24 active (23 after Auust 10th)/38 reserve (this includes the active roster) AA: 24 active/37 reserve A: 25 active/35 reserve short-season: 30 active/35 reserve rookie ball: 35 active AND 35 reserve (everyone can play) Currently, all minor league levels in OOTP6 are effectively set at 50 active/50 reserve (and, of course, don't have short-season or rookie levels). This, along with the DL situation, do tend to lead towards some irritating situation in the minors. They're "minor" (hope you don't mind the pun) issues, but some adaptability here would be welcome. PS - for those who are wanting to free up a spot on the 40-man roster, you can recall a minor league player for a split second and THEN assign him to the 60-day DL.
