Free Agent Draft?
I don't know if this is possible, but I know I'd love to see the option of Free Agent's being included with the Rookie Draft. The free agents would have a base 1 year contract that the team would have to select.

Well this is one I've never heard before. Why would you want to include free agents in the rookie draft, if you don't mind my asking?

Well, depending on the format of a league, it would allow everyone a chance at all players. Remove a need for negotiating with free agents. Basically, for those leagues who don't want to bother with negotiations, but still want the teams to have a chance to get those players. Having the option to include free agents in the rookie draft would assist.

Thats kinda cool. The worst teams would have to choose whether they wanted to build around an expensive free agent who may not sign with them next sesaon, or a potentially better, less expensive, but less immediate rookie. Interseting...

It is an intriguing and cool idea, actually. So basically, you would get the free agent for a year, then decide whether to resign him to a longer deal or let him return to the free agency pool?

That would be the way I would propose it was handled. Tie it to the arbitration to determine what they should be paid. In fairness to the draftee, they'd have to list the salary before they player was drafted, but I think it would be an intriguing way to approach free agency.
And as Ol'Drippy says, it'll make signing free agents during the season on your team a bit more interesting. ![]() |

I really like this idea, but I'd say the chances of it being included in a future version of OOTP are about .1%. I'd say zero, but I've seen some pretty obscure suggestions make it in before, so you never know. It probably depends mostly upon how easily it could be put into the game.

Well, I would think it wouldn't be too hard, but I am no programmer either. It would just be a neat option to enhance a league otpions for setup.

interesting idea...
It would be cool to see. It would definitely make for a different type of league.
