Backup files wth *.bak extension on them

I notice that when I backup the league to a folder iparticularly, league newsbox I get the tinj text files, the this text files, the ttrans text and tdev text files. There are also corresponding *.bak* files for each of these.
Are these really needed. I have software I want to clean up on my computer uncessary files like bak files. If I eliminate the bak files and need to restore my league for some reason, will I still be able to as long as I have the associated text files.

Yes, you can safely delete the bak files as long as you have the text files back up.
