game crashes getting ready for 2nd season playoffs

Hi.. well this is my 2nd season i have completed and had no prb running thru the 1st season.. did playof etc.. no prb. my 2nd season i had a one game playoff between my reds and cards.. cards won to win division and my reds would be the wildcard.. anyway after the game.. was over. waiting for the game to save.. it more or less stuck. i had to use CTRL+ALT+DEL to get out of it.. well i brought the game back up and it showed the playoof screeen with the teams playing the correct teams.. i went to click on "News" and it brought up "OOTP65.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows. You will have to restart the program. An error log has been created".. i was like what? so i went back into the game.. and clicked on the schedule and it said "no games scheduled for today" after it saved it went to the next day and all the playof team games were schedulked.. when i clicked to play the game.. it brought up a message that my team had more than 25 players.. well i went to click on my team to corect this and got the same error message and it crashed again!.. i tried to do a search for crash prb and i am running win 2000 and it has run fine.. i have kept up with all the updates.. i just recently downloaded the ootp651 updated version and had no issues. so what can i do to fix it and not loose my stats and what i have done so far.. i have plenty of hardrive space as well..
