OOTP 6.5 Installation

Okay, I know I am a little bit late, but I finally got my OOTP 6.12 upgraded to OOTP 6.5. I needed a fix for my online league withdrawal and can't wait for the new game.

I downloaded the appropriate file, purchased the necessary license for 6.5 (I already have the other license) and then tried to start the game.

However, I am getting nothing but a black screen. Can someone/anyone help me?

Windows XP, Pentium 4; 40 GB harddrive with over 75% free. Not sure what else you need to know.

You didn't happen to uninstall 6.12 did you?

Oh, and between "puchased the necessary licence" and "tried to start the game" I didn't see "I downloaded and installed" . You did do this...didn't you?

Thank you to both of you who were helping me. I ended up figuring out what I did wrong. In case you are wondering, I, the ding-back, downloaded the patch instead of the game engine. Yes, I know, I wasn't acting like someone who has owned this game this version 3.
