Re-signing FA's problem

I read your forums and FAQ's and cannot find any topic addressing my issue. I do not have permission to start a thread, so... Please help.

I am not in a league, just playing the computer. I am in my fourth season, right before the trade deadline. I have not been able to re-sign ANY of my FA's in any year. I have built for this year from the start and have nine FA's that are 3.5-5 Gold Stars. They have sent me emails asking to negotiate an extension. I open their screen and see, in some cases, what they are asking for. In one case, a 25 year old SP, 4 Gold Stars wants 4.5 mil over three years... At first I offered 4 mil and he responded with "I want more money". I eventually upped my offer to 9 mil. Each time he says I want more money or thats not enough money. I have tried to offer an extension to 6 of my 9 future FA's. All six refuse to sign for a reasonable price. One SP, I offered 12 mil to and he still refused. What can I do to sign these guys. Is their a range that a four star expects vs. a 5 star??? Do I need to take a risk and offer 15 mil and then be stuck with an ARod type contract. If this is
so, I will only be able to sign 4 or 5 of my 9 FA's that I have worked so hard to keep. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Matt

Have you tried to offer $15 million? If not, try until you get an agreement. You don't have to sign him if you you don't want to after all.

Well, I think you might be right... I am not sure I like it though. I have a 24 year old SS, 4.5 Gold Stars. He refused to negotiate after turning down 12 mil per year. A 27 year old SP, 4.5 Gold Stars refused to negotiate after turning down 15 mil per year. A 26 year old 3B, 4.5 Gold Stars finally accepted 17 mil per year for five years after stating that he wanted 5.38 over five years at the beginning of negotiations. A 25 year old SP, 4.0 Gold Stars finally accepted 16 mil per year for five years after stating that he wanted 7.11 mil per year for five years. If this is the way the AI is programmed... I guess I'll have to get used to it, but My payroll will be hurtin'.

Overall this game is awesome... a couple of things that I think could be improved on... These FA's that refused to sign with me for 15 mil and 16 mil per year... signed with other teams in the offseason for 8 mil and 9 mil per year respectively.... The AI that somehow caused this is not realistic at all.

Another thing... Which may not be true for other people, but The New York Yankees have won the WS all four years... to include this last year when I, the Orioles, won 103 games to their 89 win wildcard birth... They swept the O's in the ALCS... Go figure...
