Problems moving league files to my new computer

I have a new laptop, and have installed OOTP 6.5 on it already. I've tried several times to move my league files from my old machine to the new one, but nothing works.

I've tried zipping the files and emailing them, but it hasn't worked. I thought about a flash drive, but the USB ports on my old machine won't recognize it.

Does anyone else have any ideas about how to move the files?

I would hate to have the Pat O'Farrell and Keystone League dynasties end this way!

Thanks in advance...

How big are the files? An option is an external CD-writer (I'm assuming you don't have one in your old machine).

I don't have one. Are they expensive? I've already dropped quite a bit on the laptop.

The cheapest ones are about $50. Check newegg.com, they usually have good prices.

Another option is to network the machines (assuming both computers have an ethernet port and you have a hub or router to hook them up to).

You also said never what "didn't work" when you tried to zip and email.

That should work fine unless you are hitting you email attachment limit, but then you could use a program like WinRar to split your archive into volumes that fall under the attachment limit. Or manually take select and zip chunks of the .lg that fall under the limit.

Pain in the butt, but would work. King's ideas are far easier if you got a CD writer on the old machine or if you can network the machines.

Thanks. I hate to spend the extra money, but I might have to.

Thanks for the suggestions, Dave. My Earthlink account will handle big attachments, but every time I try to send one, VirusScan tells me that the connection failed. My Yahoo account will only take attachments up to 10mb, and I saw right away that I would exceed the attachment limit, so I zipped the league files into 3 different batches. The biggest was just over 5mb, so it should have worked.

No CD writer, and I can't network the machines. Frustrating.

So even when you split them up your VirusScan spit out errors? So turn the dumb thing off. IF that is the sole problem, turn it off, send your emails and turn it back on.

I had just started to do that when your message appeared. Hopefully that will work, and a couple of people offered other solutions via PM, too.

Thanks, everyone, for your assistance. The people on the forums here are great, so I figured I could get some help here.

If you have webspace that supports FTP, you could zip and upload them to your server from one computer and then download them to your new computer.

You could also use an archiver like WinRar to zip the file and then cut it up in volumes to fit on 3 or 4 floppy disks.
