OOTP6 Freezing during sim

While I am simming games, OOTP 6.12 freezes up. I ctrl-alt-del out and when I reopen the game shows as simmed but future simming then freezes up almost immediately. I have tried all the suggestions I could find: changed league name from "New League", checked lineups for duplicate players, turned off game sound, defragged, etc.

I have tried simming after running an inning or two, simming one game at a time from the schedule screen, simming a day, week, season. Sometimes I can go three or four seasons until it freezes, sometimes it happens in the first week. Sometimes it freezes when "Generating Amateurs". There is no discernible pattern.

Details: I am creating a one league, one division, 8 team league. I do play around with the engine settings (lots of HRs and K's) and I turn off the financial system and trades.

My system is a P4 laptop running Windows 2000 with 2.0GB

Any thoughts?

This very thing is now happening with me in 6.51 as well. Unfortunately, it's with our online league.

Any and all suggestions are welcome.
