Player Returning from retirement
In my online league, Bob Wickman just returned from retirement, however, he doesn't show up in free agency.
If i do a player search, the game finds him, but what good does this do if no one can bid on him? Anyone experience this before? What can I do?

Am I to assume because the new game is out now that these get ignored? I really would appreciate some feedback.

I experienced the same thing when I used the unretire utility. I had assumed it had to do with the utility, but now that I see this post, I'm not so sure. It could be a bug... Yes, the experts & posters seem to be preoccupied with OOTP 2006, but hopefully someone will address this...

Ok, in my 6.51 historical league, Alvin Dark was released, but when I went to sign him as a free agent, he did not appear on the list of available free agents. Sure enough, when I view the list of all players in the league, he's listed, but without a team.
Does anybody know of some sort of workaround to get him on the free agents list so he can be signed? If not, is there an editor out there that could be used to force him onto a team? (Note that by using Pierre's Career Editor I can see him as a free agent, but there doesn't appear to be anything I can do to him that would help in this particular situation). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks |

OK, I'm following up to this because there's a new wrinkle:
I just expanded in 1961, following BruceM's tutorial. When I imported rookies, they all appear in the list of all players in the league, but NONE of them appear in the free agents list! Obviously, there's some sort of bug where not all players without a team appear on the free agents list. So I'll ask again: Does ANYBODY know of some sort of workaround to get these players on the free agents list so they can be signed? If not, is there an editor out there that could be used to force them onto teams? Sure would be great to get some longtime OOTP players' expert help. Or some sort of response from tech support would be awesome! Thanks in advance. |

Good news is that you can sign them. You need to go into League Setup to the Edit Free Agents section. From there, you should be able to find the player in the FA list and sign him to whichever team you want.

Good news indeed! Thank you very much, sporr. I had no idea that there was a difference between the two ways of accessing free agents. But for some reason, when you go to League Setup and the select Edit Free Agents, all of the free agents appear. That's not necessarilly the case when you go directly to the free agents list. But, hey, whatever works! Thanks again.

Revisiting this one... In most cases when a free agent doesn't appear on the free agent list, - as stated below by sporr - he does appear on the free agent list if you access it by going to League Setup and selecting Edit Free Agents. However, I found an instance last night where the player, upon being released, simply did not appear on the list regardless of which way the FA list was accessed. He does still appear on the entire list of league players, though.
So, I've never done any exporting or importing (except importing rookies and my initial import), but I'm wondering if there's any way to export this player (or all players if that's the only way to export him) and then import him. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. Thanks in advance. |
