Retired player immediatley vanishes

I'm in the middle of a (historical, 1958) season and I get an email that says Monte Irvin is retiring today. So I wonder what his stats looked like to that point so I go to the Hall of Fame and click on View All Retired Players and he's not there. So I check to see if he's still listed under Display All Playeres of a League. And sure he enough he's not there either.

What's up with this? Did he simply vanish? Will he appear in the Retired Players' list at the end of the year?

Just in case somebody else was waiting for a reply or an answer on this... I found that by the next season the player in question DID appear on the Retired Players list. So I guess he just vanishes temporarily. Likely a bug, but not a huge one...

I think that when a player retires mid-season, he actually winds up in the FA pool, although that may have been before the 6.51 patch.
