Question who sent in the clones?

I just noticed an annoying (and potentially damaging to league history) anomaly: when scanning thru League Transactions, I saw that the Vancouver Quicksteps had released Mark Davis every week for five straight weeks. I checked and oddly enough, he was still on their roster. Went to Free Agents and much to my dismay saw him listed there as well! And it wouldn't let me delete him!

Now Mr. Davis can be found on two team rosters (Memphis and Vancouver)--twice each! Plus his stats from this season show Vancouver, Memphis and PORTLAND as the teams he has played for.

Is there any way to get rid of these extra Davises without destroying the original? Or heck, at this point, even if I DO lose the original?!?

Release the extras, go to the Free Agents list and left-click them. Click delete. You're back to a single Davis.

I tried to do that umpteen times. Every time I did the list would go back to alphabetical order (I had it sorted by Hits, where Davis was always one the top dogs). Then I scroll down the list and there he still is!

Plus I am not sure why the Monarchs and Quicksteps each have him listed twice when I search for him by name. I can only find one "copy" of him on each roster, clear down thru single A. So a couple of these clones are equipped with a cloaking device!

Have you tried releasing them all to the free agents list and seeing if you can delete them then? You'd probably lose the original, but it's better than having dopplegangers roaming around... you could always proceed on the assumption that he was blackballed by the owners, went into drug rehab, became a Buddhist monk, etc.

you could always just rename them... Mack Davis, Mick Davis, Mook Davis, etc...

Actually, I already tried that as well. For some odd reason, when I renamed Memphis' Mark Davis to Michael Davies, it also changed one of Vancouver's clones to the same (he is one of those I only see in a search for the name but not on any roster). Also, they still share the same picture, player history and stats.

To add to the oddity, I did release Davies from the Monarchs, so at least that problem is solved. However, Davies does not show in my list of free agents. Davis is still with the Quicksteps, however, and he is also still in my free agent group. He is also the only free agent I can't delete, for some inexplicable reason.

hmm...

they must have the same internal id number if it changed both names. I wonder if pierre's editor can delete a player?
