Loading League Database failed

Hello, I am receiving the "The loading of the database failed. It is either corrupted or a save-game from an old version." error message.

I am loading an OOTP2006 online league that I downloaded. I did read through two other documented threads on here from users with the same problem. I've gone through the steps with no success. I am told no other users in my league are having this issue with recent files.

- I've made sure I'm extracting data into the proper folder ...\saved_games\XXXX.lg.

- I re-installed OOTP2006 and cleared out the cache, redownloaded the file and extracted into the new OOTP saved_games path with no luck.

- I've tried to convert it through OOTP2007, yet 2007 crashes while importing.

- I attempted to create a new game in 2006, close OOTP, copy the league files into that new game's folder and load up... comes up with the same error.

I'm running Windows XP and have had this started to happen just recently. Again, my first guess is that it's a bad file.. but my commish swears everyone sees the files fine.

Any other ideas? I have been an OOTP user since OOTP2 and have never had this problem since 2006 and 2007.
