Flickering/Graphic Problem

I am running on a Win XP w/Athlon T-Bird 1.4, Nvidia Riva graphics card....

My hard drive recently tanked so I lost everything on my PC. I re-downloaded and re-installed OOTP4 but for some reason the screens in the game kind of flicker and the lower portion of the screen is sometimes jumbled and looks really funny.

Any idea why this is? I've tried re-downloading and re-installing twice and it's still the same thing.

***Edited for spelling

Have you d/l and reinstalled "direct X"? What about the newest video drivers?

Make sure your refresh rate is higher than 60Hz. XP and 2K will default to this. It should be at least 75Hz or higher.

Yes, I have Direct X and the latest Video Drivers. Where do I go to adjust my "refresh rate?"

Does it happen in any combination of Full Screen Mode or not along with Direct 3D Mode or not? It has to be an issue with the card, the drivers and the game.

Have you installed and then gotten rid of any other hardware that would be used for graphics also? I had an issue where the ATI TV tuner card drivers played havoc with my NVIDIA graphics card drivers.

I'm kind of computer illeterate but any of that shouldn't be a problem. As mentioned my old hard drive was shot so this is a brand new hard drive w/nothing on it but the basics and OOTP4.

It seems to occur most often after a play and just before it says 'click mouse or key to continue.' It's really an odd problem and is baffling!

Thanks for any additional help you can provide.

mine ran fine til i updated my detonator drivers to the most recent version - can't remember exactly which ones - the flickering and cut off screens started then. I plan to go back to my old drivers this weekend

It's what NVIDIA calls there drivers.
NVIDIA makes the Riva and GeForce cards.

I get this flicker every once in awhile too. I am running WindowsXP with latest service pack installed, DirectX 8.1 and the latest Detonator drivers. I have a GeForce4 MX440 card with 64 megs of ram and an Athlon XP1900+ with 1 gig of ram.
