Install problems.
Greetings,
I recently upgraded to WindowsXP, and when I did that I ended up deleting my installation of OOTP. Upon finishing the install of WinXP, I downloaded OOTP4.2, installed it, then tried to use my license, and it gave me the following message: " Unable to Get or Install License Retrieval of license failed with error code = 11 There are no licenses currently available for this Order ID. You have installed all of the licenses for this product to which you are entitled. If you need additional licenses, you will need to contact the publisher or vendor store you purchased thie product from, or oyu will need ot purchase another copy. " This is NOT the same error message you get if you type in an incorrect Order ID. My ID is legit and in the system, it simply says I have run out of availability. What do I do? I tried calling Via-Tech, and at 4:45 eastern they were not there (supposed to be available until 5:00 eastern). I am not even sure this is a problem for them. Thanks in advance. Michael T. <sigh>
Steve,
Booooooooo! Oh well, thanks anyway, Steve. I guess I will have to wait until tomorrow to use the program. One of the things that stinks about being on the West Coast. Michael T. Gianvecchio |

Not yet.
Steve,
Not yet. I plan to both e-mail them and leave a message on their voice mail in the next few minutes. Installing my mail client now for that exact purpose. Michael T. Gianvecchio |

Did you have a lot of uninstalls and reinstalls? Have you tried unliscencing any previously installed copies, that might allow you to get back a liscence and get back to playing.
Anytime you uninstall you should remember to unliscence the game. If you can't recoup your liscence that way you'll have to wait to deal with Via Tech. |

I guess it is my fault...
Scott,
Thanks for the information. I never knew I had to unlicense. It is probably written somewhere that I never bothered to read. Yes, I have uninstalled and reinstalled numerous times. I generally format and re-install my operating system every couple months or so. I probably have unstalled and reinstalled the game without unlicensing three or four times. Maybe as many as a half dozen. No more than that. Oh well. At this point, it is no big deal. I have to go to work in an hour anyway. It will be tomorrow soon enough. Will they give me a hard time about this? What type of proof can I provide that I still have only one copy in use? Michael T. Gianvecchio |

I don't know what they'll ask for. Just explain the situation and be prepared to prove your purchase (maybe have the order ID handy) and they'll probably be able to help you.

Scott/Steve,
Problem solved. Via-Tech unlicensed the copies that I had licensed. Of course, they also mentioned that I get THREE and only three licensed copies, and that I should unlicense in the future. =) Good call. My bad. Thanks again. Michael T. Gianvecchio |
