Getting to Next Season
Guys,
This isn't really a tech problem, but as my league (historical) was progressing to the next season (and bringing in the rookies), I accidentally shut down the program. Now I'm in the next year, but NO rookies have been imported. Is there any way to either go back or import the year's correct rookies? Please help! This is a longstanding career sim and I'd hate to have screwed things up permanently Brian |

Man, I really hate people that chirp in to remind folks of the obvious but.... (gulp) making a league backup at the end of each season (before hitting "proceed to next year") is a wise thing for any solo player or online league Commish to do
. It should take less than a minute if you just zip up the league with WinZip and give the archive file a name you instantly recognize (example: CHML 2006-FINAL.zip). The main reasons to do this are so you can use the OOTP History utility at some point in the future if you so desire (it requires the final year-end league file from each year), and because the 'proceed to next year' process can cause more OOTP freezes/crashes than any other point of a season due to the large amount of tasks the game needs to perform at that point (simming through about 60 off days, setting up the final year stats for players, setting up the free agent players and coaches, generating 100's of new rookies and other tasks). Good luck with the individual player import process Steve describes. It is time consuming but it's worth the effort if this was a longstanding solo league. |

Thanks guys....
Sadly that's what I figured. Well, chalk it up to experience! Here's one guy that will ALWAYS be backing up when a season ends from now on! BTW, What is the History Utility going to do? Brian |

The history utility makes a Baseball-Refernce.com style website for your league.
It's really quite excellent. Check out this site for an example: http://www.jcato.net/gmc/history/index.php If you like what you see go here to download the utility: http://www.jcato.net/downloads/index.html |

History
That is the greatest thing I've ever seen...
I usually spend an hour transcribing all the data into Word in a nice format I can save..... Can't wait to get home and try it out tonight (after I fix my league!) Couple questions... 1. Does it matter when I run the utitlity? (i.e. if I run it in 1989 for a league that started in '82 will all the years show up?) 2. Do I have to download all the updates or will the main download include all the fixes? Thanks! Brian Cypher74@aol.com |

You may not have full data for all of the years, unless you have a backup file from each season.
However you can get the basic stats for each year regardless by using the Career Stats utility as described in the Readme for the OOTP History utility. Make sure you follow the directions in the Readme very carefully. If you download the main OOTPHist.zip file you should have the full program with no need to grab the updates. |
