new manager

Just starting a historical league in OOTP8. Created a new gm/manager and assigned him to the Red Sox. I go to his page and he's listed as Red Sox manager. I go to Red Sox page and find that he's neither general manager nor manager. What gives?

Just to add to the info here:

If I click on the "personnel" link on the Red Sox "Home Page" it lists both my guy "Baron Mind" and "Alex Rivas" as GM.
