Stop Teasing me!!!!!

Okay, now that I have your attention, I have a little problem with a solo league that I am running. It is a fictional league with all fictional players.

I just downloaded 4.2a a couple of days ago. I don't know if this is a 4.2a problem, but I have never run across this before:

My first season in my fictional league my team Has the best 1B in the league. The only problem for my team is that he becomes a free agent next season.

He is making 9,580,000 in his last year. I try to negotiate early in the season and he is asking for over 12,000,000 for 5 years. I say to myself, "no way, buddy!" So, I ignore him pretty much the rest of the season. In the last week, I decide to gamble and I go back one more time just to see how bad I have angered him for ignoring his emails.

When I click on him his response is I want 9,580,000 (same amount I am already paying him) for three years. I think hey, that is more than I want to pay, but the guy is leading the league with 60 Homeruns so I agree to sign him.

I type in my offer which matches his price exactly and the brute turns on me!

He says that he is sick of my offers and he will play elsewhere next year! What did I do. Why would he tease me with an offer and change his mind when I meet his offer? I could see it if I offered him something different than his proposal, but I matched it perfectly.

Anyone else have this happen? In literally hundreds of simmed seasons this is the first time it has happened.

Sometimes players will not accept what they have asked for - it is fairly rare but it will usually happen to at least a few players each year. I guess the lesson learned would be to not lowball the player too many times, you might need to offer a bit more than his initial demand.
