Dead teams players

Hello,

I've been playing a historical league from 1871 where there is a lot of chaos with teams joining and folding from year to year.

My problem is that when a team folds, the players don't get automatically dumped into a free agent pool. I'm finding tons of players that are still on rosters of folded teams.

Is there anyway to fix this besides going through player by player and setting them all as free agents?

The only other option I see is dumping every single roster into the free agent pool and obviously I don't want to do that.

Is there a fix to this I haven't noticed? If not, I'd love to see that incorporated into future versions of this game.

Thanks.

No ideas?

I guess that's something to file under 'needs to be fixed'.

Thanks.

I have the same problem. Even though i try to set the protection list so there will be a balanced roster size for old and new teams, some old teams may have more retirements.
And all the players from the folding teams go to the expansion draft which kind defeats having the protection list # set. I dont think you can change free agency years after youve started so that doesnt help.

Best i can think of is just releasing all players that are eligible for free agency right before you proceed to end of playoffs. I havent tried it yet but thats the only way i can think of to keep expansion teams from getting all the folding team players. Of course not much you can do if you have expansion before then. But thats the way it was back then. Several teams folded in 1871.

BaseballMan I think you misread the OP. (or I have).

Certainly, what I've experienced is that an entire team will 'disappear' - often replaced with an exact copy - MINUS THE PLAYERS.

The players are still there (world search) - but they remained contracted to the invisible team (which often shares a name with a new entity).

It happened with my Philadelphia dynasty. 4 years in (I think), and every single player on my club disappeared. When I search for them, they are contracted to Philadelphia. But it's not the Philadelphia that plays in the league in 187x.

There's another thread floating around = something to do with crossing the 'game' db, and Gambo. I think.
