Scheduling Issue: Help Please

I've been simming games every day for the last few months and when I reached game # 136 on September 20, I received a message that my regular season is over and that the playoffs will begin soon. The problem is my regular season was supposed to be 154 games long and go until October 9. I'm still able to play the remaining games on my schedule and the statistics are updating, but I'm worried that when I run out of regular season games, OOTP won't take me into the playoffs like it should, especially since it thinks my regular season is already over.

Is there any way to get around this? Does anyone know if OOTP will recognize that it's time for the postseason to begin when I'm through playing my real regular season schedule? I have a bad feeling that it won't because when I click on the "Auto-Play Until Event" button, no events are listed.

This is a high-profile league and I'd hate to think the postseason is going to be screwed up because I forgot to tell OOTP that my regular season ends on October 9 and not September 20. So please tell me there's a work-around for this.

I'm not exactly sure what the cause of this behavior would have been, but my first suggestion would be to make a copy of your .dat files, place them into a new .lg folder in your saved games folder, then sim ahead to see what happens. Let's verify whether or not we need to worry first.

Good idea. I'll do that later this evening when I get home and will report back to you.

One other question: was I supposed to specify a regular season ending date when I first created my league? Could that be the problem, that OOTP had September 20 as my ending date, but I scheduled games past that date, which screwed things up?

There is no end date setting, but I seem to remember this happening to me once before. I would try Nutlaw's suggestion of making a copy of the league and testing to see what happens when you finish out your schedule. In my case I think everything worked out, but I can't remember for sure.

I think you should be fine once you finish out all the games on the schedule. I'm guessing that since there are still games on the schedule OOTP won't schedule the playoffs.

I would bet not. I don't recall ever having to enter a league/season end date.

We've been in touch with Mike directly via e-mail, we should be able to get this resolved.

Okay, I followed Nutlaw's advice and all seems to be okay. I copied the .dat files into a new folder and proceeded to the end of the regular season, at which time I received a new message about the regular season being over and the playoffs beginning soon. The new message actually contained more information, as it listed the playoff teams, whereas the original message from September 20 didn't. I tried to play through the playoffs to make sure it went off without a hitch, but rosters had more than 25 active players, and I didn't have enough time to get them to pre-September call-up levels (I had to go back to work ).

Markus and Steve are also helping me out with my league files just in case I need it. Thanks to everyone for the advice and tech support. This place is awesome!

Mike,

Just as a thought, make a note to yourself next season when you get to the preseason to double-check the schedule for the year BEFORE you get into spring training!

That's really the time to preemptively make sure your schedule is all set for next year, OK?!

Steve,

I'm not sure I understand. If there's no regular season end date required, what could I have done differently or what can I do differently in the future to make sure this doesn't happen again?

Never mind me, I'm just not reading closely enough.
