Minor Personnel Contract Issue
I am using the MLB league included with the game and found a minor bug with personnel contracts. I had a major league manager with one year of contract remaining and had planned on letting him go. Before the end of the MLB season, but after the AAA season had ended, I promoted my AAA coach to the major league level, putting the major league coach in AAA. Voila, my former MLB manager now has one more season still remaining on his contract.
My guess is that personnel contracts are only flagged with how many seasons are remaining on their contract, instead of the year that their contract expired. Since the AAA season already ended and I demoted my coach before the end of the MLB season was over, the game still considered him to have another year of contract remaining. I debated about whether to post this as I believe this bug could probably be abused in online leagues. If you want to delete this post to keep that from happening, please PM me so I know not to repost.

I think I understand. I might suggest - save your current game under a different name temporarily - simming to the end of the year and see if that contract is still valid after the MLB off-season or official season's end. Could be a fluke, could be you're on to a problem. My hunch is the year, as you say, may not be tied to the level calendar, but the year may expire with the parent league. Did I miss something? Anyway, if it makes any sense, give it a whirl and see what happens.

I simmed past the end of the season for the major leagues and the coach in question is still the manager in AAA. What actually happened was after I promoted my AAA manager (and my MLB manager got demoted to AAA), my former major league got an extra year extension when he wound up in AAA.
My hunch is that the coach contracts just have year's remaining flags and when the end of the season is reached in each league, the coach's contract is reduced by one year. So my MLB manager had one year remaining on his contract and since I demoted him after the AAA season was over, the game still saw him with one remaining year left on his contract. Hopefully this makes sense.
