Won't load online league file

Hi. I've looked in the forums for this problem and I'm using the same updated version of OOTP as the league is, but I can't seem to find anything addressing this specifically.

I'm saving and extracting everything correctly and I've uninstalled and reinstalled the game. I've even tried different browsers in the downloading. But when I load the league I get:

"Error -- Database: create_random_team_logo - could not save team logo!"

It happens after loading about 22% of the game, which is when it starts to load the teams. I've tried loading from the front page, and I've tried loading the file from a different, functioning saved game file.

Anyone have any ideas?

EWC is working off of the PEBA's league file. We've never experienced a problem like this before. Searches have turned up numerous mentions of this issue but no real resolutions. Despite the error message, supplying updated logos hasn't helped. We're a bit lost at the moment, so any suggestions would be appreciated.

What version are the commishes and EWC using? There was an issue I remember about games sticking at 22% on loading.

We're both using 9.2.13.

The commish of the league also said there was a problem in the past when they were using 9.2.2 but that things had smoothed out after updating to the recent version.

I went ahead and download another league file and when I added it I got the same error:

"Error -- Database: create_random_team_logo - could not save team logo!"

Which happens at 22%.

Obviously the problem is with me and my setup. One thing I didn't add before was that I live in South Korea and use a Korean-language OS. That's the only other thing I can possibly come up with.

Anyone? I'm dyin' to get in this league!~

I know people are busy working with the new game, but the more I investigate this situation the more inclined I am to believe this has something to do with the fact that I'm using a Korean language OS, often with Korean language in the path names. Can anyone shoot that idea down?

I've reinstalled the game (ver. 9.2.13) on both my work and home computers (both Korean OS), and have attempted to extract the file into my saved game folders on both. In each case I get the same error.

Still no progress for me. After looking around at the forums and seeing this error pop up a number of other times, I'm now thinking it has nothing to do with me using a Korean language OS, and is rather a bug in the game.
The league I'm trying to join has previously had a member from Korea, and while the commish isn't sure if the member was using a Korean OS, the likelyhood is high, since an English OS isn't easy to come by.

Yesterday a friend of mine and I tried to load the game into quickstart. That didn't work either.

Still looking for answers here....

No, I can't shoot that down at all. Using non-English versions of Windows (are you using Windows?) has caused serious problems with previous versions of the game, at least.

Can you run your own non-online leagues without trouble?

Yeah. I've been playing OOTP for a few years while living in Korea, but this is the first time I've tried an online league.

And I am using Windows. 2000.

Strangely, I downloaded Dr. Park III's World of Baseball file, installed it and was able to use it with no problem. I wouldn't think that's all that different from an online league file, but obviously there's something there triggering the error. Just for the heck of it, I downloaded the World Baseball Hiarchy league file. It didn't work either.

It's still the same problem -- it's an error having to do with the logos at about 22%. It's trying to generate backups or logos and is unable to do it. So it freezes at 22%.

Okay, I'd like you to make a new .lg folder in your saved games folder and put in a copy of only the .dat files from this online league and none of the other sub folders or their contents. Can you load that one up?

We're going to try that today. In the meantime, I'll report that the problem isn't due to missing logos/pictures. I archived every one of the PEBA's logos/pictures and had EWC download them and install them to his "images" folder. No luck. Hopefully your idea here will work.

I downloaded Skydog's fictional league configuration last night and was able to load that up from the quickstart menu, but get this...I got the same erorr:

"Error -- Database: create_random_team_logo - could not save team logo!"

At 22%, but I was able to click OK and it continued to load as normal.

This is in difference to PEBA, which stops at the error and won't allow me to click anything. I have to cntl-alt-del to shut the program down. Strange eh?

Well, here's a weird conclusion to this. I was playing around with Skydog's file again. For the heck of it I tried to load the PEBA league file in game. When I did, I tried clicking OK repeatedly. After clicking twice, the game freezes, but then eventually gives me the OK option again. If I click OK 10-15 times the game eventually loads.

It's a bit odd, but whatever works. I've done it several times now, loaded up everything up in the league and seem good to go. This is a little like hitting your TV to get it to work, but whatever....

Thanks for the help. Assuming this is now solved.
