Game keeps setting lineups
Am an AAA manager. Have played through to July in season and now, at the end of July, the game keeps resetting my pitching and lineups. The game was set all season for me to set lineups. Nothing has changed. Had no problem until the end of July. I was checking and managing pitching / lineups all season. Now, it keeps resetting them every week.

Yes, as I indicated in my original post, that has been the setting all season. Nothing changed. I rechecked it to see if the game changed that setting but it remained just as I left it. I am the manager, in charge of roster lineups according to that setting, but the game keeps ignoring that as of July 25.

Now, I have, somehow, regained control of my lineups. It is now in August, and after a few weeks of having lost control of my lineups, I am now able to set my lineups and not have them overwritten by the game. So, lets not hear anything about user error or VIsta or antivirus or recent changes to computer config or added software etc etc. This is obviously a OOTP software programming bug.

Simmed another season and it happens again. I know that no one here could give a f?ck. But, this is defective software, its not a serious product. At best OOTP is an arcarde game, provides lotsa opportunities to add snazzy logos and custom leagues, teams etc etc. But as far being able to provide a reliable sim experience. Aint happening.
8 of 10 for presentation 2 of 10 for execution/reliability 0 of 10 for support If one wants to spend time on a mediocre product then OOTP fits the bill. Oh! And they have a new one coming out!!

Honus,
I feel your pain. It's obvious at this point that help is not coming. I think our best outlet is to do a search for sites that reviewed OOTP9 and make them aware of the situation. I can't imagine that this is addressed in OOTPX if they can't even give us a clue here. Also make them aware of the lack of support. I will be emailing all sites that did the reviews as well as those sites that give out awards that OOTP has won in the past. This is definitely not even close to award winning. The reasons they received high praise may be due to kickbacks, but it's worth a shot. I suggest you do the same. The more people we get on this, the less chance this will happen to others in the future. |

Hey guys. I realize that you're upset, but please realize that the new release is happening imminently and that we really need to focus our efforts there for now. There will be a lot more people with much larger complaints if we don't finish our work over there.
I haven't heard of any reports of this behavior in OOTP 10, nor in OOTP 9 in the past to my recollection. |

1. if there is no record of this occuring that means... what exactly...? and 2. when you do have a record of something occurring it garners the same level of support (please refer to the 0 out of 10 above) We get it! You have satisfied customers hungering for more and youve promised them OOTP `x` (arent things with X in the name just more kewl?) And if some have problems well... thats life. Enjoy my money |

This exact same thing happened to me in late July as a Short-Season A manager. I am suspicious that this may be a calendar issue. We'll see what happens when August rolls around.

But I think you're missing the point of the response. Essentially nutlaw apologized for the fact that the OOTP team has been too busy to provide the proper level of support. He validated your complaint. By doing so, I think he was probably hoping you'd understand and be slightly patient. In a quick one-liner which he may came to rue, he also let you know that they had never heard of this problem/bug before. To me, that means it is not something that they've known about and haven't fixed - it's something they've never heard of before. It will take them some time to work with you (and others) to determine the exact set of circumstances that cause it to happen. As good as OOTP is and as good as their website is, I think that a lot of us forget that they're still a pretty small company and therefore have a limited set of resources. Given when they announced the pre-order for OOTPX and when it will eventually be delivered, I suspect they misjudged how close they were and the effort it would take to get it to release state. So we all have to be patient - whether it's waiting for OOTPX release or waiting for OOTP9 support. Now if you're unwilling to grant them extended patience, that's obviously your perogative (sp?). I think you're being a bit hasty but hey, it's your life and your game (and your money, as you rightly point out). JD |

I did a clean uninstall and reinstalled from disc. Maybe some corruption occurred on the download. I would suggest observing when the ML GM moves an injured player either to or from your roster. THough it could just be coincidence. |

I just played a full season in OOTPx as a AAA manager and did not have this error occur.
HOWEVER I generally play OOTP9 as a minor league manager and never noticed this occurance. THEREFORE All I know for sure is that when I was actively looking for the challenge to manifest itself in OOTPx it did not happen. But I only checked one year. Success once in a row is a trend but not a guarantee. |

Ok, so as I said, i did the uninstall.reinstall from disc. set a japanese fictional league. first time through no problem. second time through, the GM made a trade affecting minor league players and, while adding new players to my roster, reset my lineups.

Yep, another trade and when GM took player from roster it reset the lineups. I didnt have organization news turned on previous leagues with this issue, just team news. So maybe it was the trades by GM that f8cked things up before.

No. So far just when a trade has been involved. When players are moved between levels I always have to reset lineup holes myself, trades the exception. |
