Sorry,could not get a license....

I don't know what is going on, my copy has been register for months and now this message comes up when I try to play.

"Sorry, could not get a license at this time. Please try running this program later.
23"

I have not changed anything, fiddle with anything, nothing at all. So I am not sure where this error is comming from if at all on my end.

What can I do to fix this, and not have it happen again ?

Here is what your error means:

Quote:
23 "Sorry, could not get a license at this time..."This error indicates a problem with the eLicense software on your computer. "...get a license" does not refer to license acquisition from the eLicense servers, it refers to the eLicensed application being unable to retrieve license data on your computer. With older versions of eLicense, this error may occur on Windows XP when using the Fast Switch feature, and the logged-on user is not the owner of the program. This error will also occur when trying to run eLicensed software via Terminal Server or Remote Desktop.
What OS do you have does this help:

Windows 98SE

Should I just uninstall the licence and try it again, or will that just make the problem worse ?

Make a note of your license number, then try to unlicense it and relicense it again. If that doesn't work go to the FAQ forum and there you will find the Via-Tech contact info.

The other option I could think of is unliscencing (make note of the order ID (it starts with VT-) ) and uninstalling the game completely. Then reinstall the game and when you come to the liscence screen click liscence and type in the Order ID. That may fix things.
