Yesterday I re-downloaded OOTP4 using my license. I installed the latest version and created a historical league starting at the 1985 season. I expanded the league to have 3 divisions of six teams each in each league. The season simmed fine until the series was over. I keep getting an error message which crashes the game when I try to sim further than 11/9/1985. Please help!
P.S. This is not the first time I have used this game. I have run the game previously and created leagues with no problem. I uninstalled the game last summer because I was very busy at work and could not play. |

Did you generate a new schedule when you expanded the league? Did you do the expanions at the start or at the end of the season? Are there any games after 11/9/1985?
If there aren't any games left.. then you need to push the proceed to next season button. Can you give more details about what exactly was going on in your league just before you got the crash? |

Q: Did you generate a new schedule when you expanded the league?
A: YES. Q: Did you do the expansions at the start or at the end of the season? A: Before start. Q: Are there any games after 11/9/1985? A: The final game of the WS was on 11/9. Q: If there aren't any games left.. then you need to push the proceed to next season button. A: If only it were that easy... The button does not appear. Q: Can you give more details about what exactly was going on in your league just before you got the crash? A: The league standings screen shows that the last game of the ws was played today (11/9/1985). The ticker has headlines dated 11/10/1985 showing the rookie of the year, etc. Any attempt to sim further, by day, month, week, etc. causes the crash. The button should have shown up and the League Standings screen in the top right hand corner. The League Standings screen should look like the playoff tree right now.
Did the playoffs occur as they should have for a 3 division league (3 teams + Wild Card)? Did each team play their full schedule? Was there anything odd that occurred during the season that you remember? A lot of this is just thinking "out loud" since I haven't run into this issue in the past... |

Did each team play their full schedule? yes Was there anything odd that occurred during the season that you remember? well there were 10 expansion teams playing with AAA players in the majors so there were quite a few 100 win and 100 loss teams. I don't know if that might have done something. |

It seems to me that the problem is related to the two different dates. The schedule indicates that today is 11/9 while other parts of the game show 11/10. If I could edit the schedule.dat file and change today to 11/10 it might work out.
SO HOW DO I DO THAT? Last edited by Seamus O'Snappe; 12-31-2002 at 05:35 PM. |

If the PE2 Editor is fully enabled then it may allow you to change the date... but I think that this option may have been grayed out.
Now the game schedule just shows a schedule date... so I didn't think that it would matter if that was different then the date in the top left. You might want to try adding an exhibition game between two scrub teams and seeing what happens if you sim that.. I really don't know how to edit the schedule.dat file, as far as I know it can't be done in game. |

I uninstalled the game, re-installed, created a new historic league starting in 1986 with 3 divisions of 6 teams each. Ran the season and damned if the same thing didn't happen!!! I am going to try to redownload the setup file.
BTW: this is the error message that causes the crash right after the WS is over. OOTP4 caused a divide error in module OOTP4.EXE at 018f:0061feb1.
