Minor League relievers starting bug?

I've noticed that the closer (who is a closer and has been put in that slot) for my Class AA team has started 9 games even though I have 5 starters listed (none of them has been hurt). None of the relievers had a starting rating so it must have picked him and he has one now. I guess as a follow-up does this have any bearing on his development other than getting a starting rating?

Did you have the auto computer manager for minors on?

Did you set the pitching staff yourself for your AA staff?

Yes, I have Human mange of the minors and I set the staff myself since I want my high talent guys getting the innings. This is a long career and it's the first time I've seen it happen without an injury of some sort. I checked the injury log and nothing is listed.

Are you using the latest patch?

Was this closer rated as a SP that you know of before?
What is his SP rating and does it show in the talent increase or emails?

Using the latest patch although this career was started even before the 4.1 patch. He was an MR with no starting rating that I drafted (do you ever see guys in the draft with both ratings by the way?) and converted to a closer during that first spring training (my house rule is that I have to put a closer in that slot on my ML club and they can't be converted once they have hit the majors, so I have a few floating around the minors). He is now an E starter and there is no note of him at all this year under player development.
