Shockingly Weird Bug in my league...
Hi... I have had this odd bug happen in my league.
First, some info. I'm running OOTP2 (don't laugh). The league is the Ted Williams Memorial League (http://darowski.com/twml). No sense in saying the same thing twice, so I'm just going to copy and paste the the email I sent my owners about this. Please help. This is crazy. ******* Email: ******* Um. I (with the help of a couple owners) uncovered an odd bug. Seems that Tony Gwynn, Cal Ripken, and Rickey Henderson (at least) did not want to retire. The Oak Street Mafia alerted me that they have Tony Gwynn listed on their team page. When you click on Gwynn, it shows Shigetoshi Hasegawa's stats. Transilvania then alerted me that Cal Ripken is listed on their page and when you click on Ripken, Scott Schoenweis' stats appear. I went into the actual game to see how it appears. I figured it was just a bug in the HTML generation. It's not. Gwynn and Ripken are on the rosters. Schoenweis and Hasegawa? Nowhere to be found. However Gwynn and Ripken are also in the retired players section. Weird. I went ahead and checked other retired players. Rickey Henderson is on New England... in place of Darrin Erstad. Ugh. I can't find any other occurances (I checked John Franco, Doc Gooden, Harold Baines, and Dave Hollins). What can I do? Well, I'll try to see if there's a fix. I'll post on the OOTP forums about this. Worst case scenerio? The players are destroyed and replaced with players of the exact same ratings. I'd hate to do this, because the player histories will be lost. However, that's the only downside that I know of. I will keep y'all posted on what's happening with this. This is absolutely weird. |

That used to happen in OOTP2/3 when one team became too low on players (like under 20 players on one team). As you added players to the team the player "links" (within the game) would pop up other players. It also happened when you filled the minors with players for a team that had a very small roster (sort of the same symptom as above but triggered by the fill minors button). "Doubles" of players was also a related issue. I have not seen these issues for a long time so that's good for others reading this but not good for you - it's possible the player DB is corrupted. I can't recall if I was able to fix this but if I were you I'd back up the league and try a bunch of experiementation to see if I could get rid of the problem. I'd try deleting any "doubles" (if there are any), adding a bunch of new players to the rosters, maybe editing some player names, reset if that is the option. Find something that gets rid of the problem and then try to patch the league up as best as you can - hope the issue goes away when you proceed to next year.
That's my $0.02 anyway - good luck. |

Thanks for the tips. I just hope this doesn't happen every season. I've finally got a league with 24 great owners and I don't want to have it all messed up if you know what I mean.
I will try experimenting... maybe proceeding to another season (just proceeded as it is) and see if any more happen. Thanks.
