Forcing/dictating a trade?

I'm fooling around in commissioner mode, and as sort of background research on a sports what-if, I want to set up an historic game (not a problem) during the course of which a handful of trades get made so I can see how the course of baseball would develop. That said, how do I go about making this happen; i.e., dictate that (let's say) the White Sox trade Eddie Collins to the St. Louis Browns for Joe Schlabotnik and cash? I may have missed it but I can't find how this is done. Thanks.

Stay in commissioner mode, go to trade using the pulldown menu. I believe you have to control one of the two teams in the trade. Set up players involved on both sides and hit the "force trade" button at the bottom, have to be in commish mode and that should work. Go to the teams and see if it processed.

Does it matter that I'm playing the free version of OOTP8? I've tried taking over all teams and I get the message consistently that trades aren't allowed.
