Please help me salvage my historical league!

I fear I've irreparably screwed up my historical league. We lost 4 games to 1 in the NLCS of the second season replayed. I simmed the World Series, read the year-end news and went on to the next season.

Here's my problem. I accidentally hit 'no' to import real rookies. I wasn't paying attention, and now I feel like an idiot. Is there any way to dump these fictional rookies and import the real rookies?

I don't think I had backed up the league since the end of the regular season. I thought about trying to go back, but hesitated because I'd hate to change the outcome of the playoffs. When I hit restore league, it said it would overwrite the current league.

Does anyone have any advice? Condolences? Scorn and ridicule?

Thanks so much in advance.

The only thing I can think that might help you is Pierres player importer.

I haven't played with it much... so I don't know for sure if it will do what you need.... but you can find it HERE

Hope this helps

Kurtis

yep you'll have to delete the fictional guys one by one and then import the historicals one-by-one.

unless of course you did a backup at the conclusion of the previous season.

i get so freaked out before i go to the next season. i do a little obsessive-compulsive thing, where i recheck and double recheck to make sure i backed up the season and etc. nevertheless i'm sure i'll eventually do something foolish to wreck my league.

If you are fairly quick simmer and are anal about backing seasons up, then you can always go back to the previous seasons backup, so even if you get careless there are still some "Plan B"'s for you. If I was a game-by-game simmer I would try to make a league backup once every 2-4 weeks of season play.

Thanks for the advice. I finally noticed the "Import player from database" button on the free agent screen. So I was able to delete the fictional guys and import all the actual rookies. The lesson, of course, is back up early and often.
