Smile Editor Issue - Using "Esc" key

Hello, I have the OOTP 4 Demo. I used the built-in editor to adjust some player ratings. Here is my issue: I wanted to make an adjustment to hitting power, but then decided against it and used the "ESC" key to 'back out'. This changed the field from xx <-- some number to 0. In other words, whatever number was being used for hitting power was changed to "0" when I hit escape. This happened also when I tried to edit a contract. I hit "ESC" and it blanks out whatever $$ value was there before. Is there something I'm doing wrong? I would figure if you hit "ESC" it would 'back out' and restore the previous value. Thanks!

The escape key doesn't reset the value in the OOTP4 editor. It exits the enter value dialogue, but it either enters whatever value is in the blank there (0 if its blank) or it just enters 0 when you hit escape (I'm not sure which, I've never used the escape key to exit from the editor).

So in short, as you've already found out, the Escape doesn't back out and restore the previous value in the internal editor for OOTP.

Ok, so if I open a dialouge box and want to 'back out', what do I need to do?

Some of the dialogue boxes will have a cancel button, but I don't think the player ratings edit option allows a cancel (I'll have to check when I get home). I think in those cases the game is just recording the value of any keystroke (textbox logic) and that's why you might get a weird character like a box symbol for a carriage/return enter key etc.. Best advice for now might be to make frequent backups if you do a lot of player editing, I know that is not elegant, but I believe that's how OOTP4 works.

This might be a good suggestion for v5 if it is not a too difficult: No data writing if the user hits the excape key at the beginning of the player edit process. On the other hand, maybe just don't hit "edit player" if you don't want to edit the player.

I think I or someone else suggested this in the Wish List forum. Definite pain in the arse. Especially when you accidentally click on a guy's salary, then instinctively hit ESC to get out of it, erasing his salary info.

Related to this in the horrendous UI department is the way I have to click 19 times to get from my $11 ticket price to $10. Why can't I just input it??
