end of FA signings offseason trades hang-up

Ok, in my 15th season, just finished day 30 of FA signing period, game goes to offseason trades and hangs up, without fail. Looked around the board for something re this, but couldn't find it. Any help would be appreciated.

8-6-14 teams in 2 leagues, yes i did delete one team at the conclusion of the previous season and replace it before the start of the new one.

I would guess that the 1st time it hung up it corrupted your league, now it will hang up at that same point due to the corruption. If that is the case then I think the only thing you can do is revert to your last back up.

This is a common place for the game to appear to freeze (the other most common is proceed to next year), are you positive you waited long enough for the process to complete before manually shutting the game down? Windows will display OOTP4 as "not responding" but it will usually still complete the process 5-10 minutes after it appears to have stopped working. You increase your chances of this working by leaving the PC alone (no further keyboard input for 5-10 minutes) as well as turning off all background programs.

I'll give that a try - didn't know about the not responding thing not necessarily being for real. Fortunately (as we went over in that other thread) I'm backed up as of the end of the previous season, so all I'll lose is the FA signings and coaches signings, which in reality I could use another crack at, as my BRILLIANT/BRILLIANT scout retired unexpectedly and all I got as a replacement was a peanut vendor. But still, I'm sure I'm like many simmers here in that I like to be as linear as possible with my league.

Thanks for the advice!

NP, that "not responding" thing is a strange one and if it had not happened to me several times I would be suspicious of that advice. Fortunately it's worked that way for me and some others have claimed that advice (waiting another 5-10 minutes after the game appears to freeze) worked for them too. I guess the game might stall on some calculations and then the OS is fooled into thinking there is no more program movement. After some minutes OOTP resurrects itself.

You hit it right on the head. I have seem plenty of times where a program is not responding, only to pull itself back into responding.

Yep. It was simple as that. I let it run for a few minutes and I was good to go, proceeded to spring training. Very happy about that. Feel a little silly, but, that was a first for me, a program not responding and then responding again.
