Questions on new league

I would like to start a MLB based OOTB league. I have "several" questions however, I will only post one or two at a time.

1) How are player data bases updated in between seasons. Are they done manually or does OOTB provide automatic updates from within? .... In other words, if I end with the 1980 season, how do I load the players from 1981?

2) How are new players (rookies) entered. Again, if I end in 1980, how are rookies that played in the 1981 season entered? Manually?

Any help is apprecaited.

You will import the first season all players will be read in.

During the offseason the OOTP engine will work as normal to age and adjust the abilities of players, it will not do a wholesale reimport of the league.

You will be prompted to import the new rookies or use computer generated players and given the option of dumping them into a draft pool, or adding them to their original teams. For the import you'll specify the location of the database and the game will import them all.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply..... So are you saying that all of the rookies from each season are in the database? (I'm talking about actual MLB players)

Yes, from the season that they made their ML debuts. The game will ask you between seasons if you want to "import real rookies".

Yes, all the rookies/players for each season are included in the Lahman Database that you need to use for historical replays.

If you need more help with this process the link below will take you to a detailed FAQ to help out with Historical League creation:
