Postseason crash workaround?
The game crashed just as the last game of the WS was finishing. When I open the game again, the standings screen lists Cincinatti having defeated Cleveland 4-1 in the WS, but the "Proceed to next season" box does not appear.
When I go to the schedule screen, it thinks the current day is the day of that last game. Game 5 has been completed, with the box score visible. When I try to sim the day/week/postseason, the game crashes again. I have tried editing the schedule and deleting that game, adding other games schedule on that day and future days, and deleting the box score from the BOX folder. Still, the game crashes when I try to sim through the day. Can anyone think of any workarounds, or is my league ruined?

I tried copying the league over, hitting RESET and re-running the season... once again, the game crashes just as the WS is finishing.

I've had this happen to me before, too. Unfortunately, that was a long time ago, and I don't remember what I did, but I got through it.
Try creating a new fictional league with the same league structure and same year the game crashed, and sim out the first season. A. If it crashes again, then try reinstalling OOTP. B. If it does NOT crash again, try copying and pasting EVERYTHING from your league folder EXCEPT the league.dat file (that might be the problem -- I'm not sure) to the new league. Let me know if it worked. |

Thanks... unfortunately, it's a historical league- creating a new league and trying to copy stuff over seems like it would create problems with importing players. I was hoping there was some simple fix, but I guess it's not too big of a deal to wait until Friday and start over. Thanks for the suggestions, though.

Manny, if you haven't already restarted your league, you shouldn't have to. As long as you create a custom league - same setup - same year, and copy all files but league.dat, there shouldn't be any problems importing players when you proceed to next season (if it works).
