OOTP5 - Can't read trade comments

OOPT5 on the trade screen - I can't read the text where the other club makes a comment on my trade proposal. The text is dark on a dark background. How can I change this? I had to turn off 3D in the config file in order to see the text on the main screen etc. so I'm not sure if this is part of the problem or not.

Not sure but I think you can find an INI file and able to change color. (I thing it using RGB code)

Hmmmm....looked but didn't see any INI file that I could play with. Along the lines of giving more info I have

Windows XP Pro
Intel Celeron 1.70 GhZ
Intel on-board graphics controler 82845G/GL [64 MB memory]
504 MB Ram
Hard Drive - 57.2 GB [17.5 GB free]
Direct-X 8.1
Current graphics mode 1024x768 True Color [60 hz]

Tried using High Color - nope!

This is reaaaallyyy frustrating. If I change the game configuration in the OOPT5 folder back to 3D I can read the trade comments but again I'm having difficulty seeing the menus etc.

Once I change again to NOT using 3D I can see the menus but again not the comments on the trade screen.

The difficulty seems to be that the lettering for the first comments is in black, ie "Jack Quack is too old..." and on a black background. The two blacks are a little different so that I can see SOMETHING is there but there is not enough contrast to actually read it.

When I hit the Request Counter Offer button the lettering for the reply "We cannot imagine a reasonable trade for Mitzi Gaynor" is in white lettering on a black background and I can see that.

Crap! Or something to that effect.

Downloaded and installed DirectX 9.0 and updated video drive and it actually looks a little nicer but STILL can't read the trade text!!!!

Here's a fix for this:

Hey guys this is a simple fix, go into the graphics folder, change bc1.bmp to a lighter color, might have to change the bc1.bmp for each skin.

Fixed it. I went into the 'Graphics\Dark Blue.skn\textcolors.ini' file and changed the very first value from 10,10,10 to 0,0,255.

Yessssss!!!! Both methods work and I am experimenting a little with color combos etc. Thank you very much for everyones input. This is a great game and a great forum. Where else can you get such help and the ability to customize the game to your own satisfaction. Kudos to all!!!!

that works but screws up text colors elsewhere... is there anyway to fix the text in trade screen without screwing up the text colors everywhere else...

EDIT: NM... Should have just used steves fix and not the other guys... heh

The text problems overall have been very disappointing.

Text is difficult to read.

Text boxes overlap (especially when reading team emails).

I guess those are the two major ones I got. Everything else seems on par.
