Steve.....
I hate to bug you with a ootp4 question but...... I posted in a earlier thread.........
I have played about 140 games in my first season and have never had any problems running OOTP4. I was getting ready to play and the program froze. I had to turn the computer off and reboot. Now when I try to run the program the screen gets black like its getting ready to load then it just goes back to desktop. I can't use my shorcut and it doesn't run using the exe. in the folder. I am not sure what has happened. I can run all my other games fine. Can someone help me. I have over 700ram and 18gigs free. 1.4ghz. Like I said before this is the first time I have ever had a problem. Thanks in advance for the help. terry You then responded with " try reinstalling it to another directory" I am just learning how all this stuff works so I am very novice. Do I go back to your site and download it again? Is there a link for customers that have already paid to download?? NOt sure how this works. I plan on purchasing ootp5 once I finish my season with ootp4, that is if I still can continue it. Can you give me a little direction? Thanks a bunch,t |

To reinstall it to another directory, you can download another copy from the website. When you click the download link, it should bring up a "Save File As" dialog box that asks you where you want to save the ootp4.exe file. Choose a different directory than the one you were using before, and download.
Since you already paid for a license, when you double-click on the newly downloaded ootp4.exe file on your hard drive, there is an option for entering in your existing license number. One way you can find this number is on the opening pop-up box when you start your current copy of OOTP4. It will start with VT, I believe. Enter it in and the game should work. Remember to unlicense your old copy of OOTP4 first (the one you were having problems with). You can do this through Control Panel >> E-License Control. That way the license will be freed up and you can use it again. |

If you have the ootp4setup.exe file just run that again and instruct it to install to a different location, then just copy the league folder over to that one and try it.

I am bored at work, and by reading blitz' post I get the feeling he is a little lost about the 'another directory' part means. If I am wrong and you know just what they mean, disregard the rest of this... It will serve at the least as a way to pass the time till I go home.
As Steve said you can use the ootpsetup.exe file you already have. If it is not the latest you should download the latest one. BTW: You can download all the ootpsetup.exe files you want. It is when you install the game that uses your license; not the download itself. When you double click to install the game it will ask you 'where' you want to install it. This is where you choose 'another location'. I believe the default is c:\program files\ootp, or something like that. When you get to this point you just want to change that part. Change the folder name of the directory it will install the game in to. One way would be: Before you run the install create a new folder on the C:\ drive. When it asks you where you want to install it, point it there. It doesn't really matter what the folder is called just as long as it is a different 'location; than the default. This is what they mean by 'another directory'. Hope that helped a little, and good luck. |
